If
you are the victim of domestic violence,
the law entitles you to protection
from the perpetrator of the violence.
If you have reasonable cause to
fear that you are in imminent danger
of becoming a victim of domestic
violence, the law entitles you to
protection from the person responsible
for causing the fear. If you are
being stalked by another person,
the law entitles you to protection
from the stalker. If you are being
harassed by another person for no
legitimate purpose, the law entitles
you to protection. The perpetrator
of the violence, harassment or stalking
may be issued an “injunction”
or “no-contact” order,
also known as a “restraining
order,” the violation of which
can result in felony charges against
the perpetrator.
If you are wrongly accused of domestic
violence, the law provides a forum
for you to defend the wrongful charges.

to properly and effectively defend
yourself against false domestic
violence charges can result in severe
consequences.
